Poor boy

At school yesterday my poor boy had his measles injection. I was given fair warning BUT being the good mom that I am I chose not to mention it to Ollie at all and just let the teachers deal with him and the injection.... He said he was brave but also told me his arm is very sore and the nurse wasn't a nice lady!

I was just happy to see he was surrounded by his school friends so they could all be hurt together!

On the move...

This one has been on the move for a little over a month - she does this cute leopard crawl thing and is moving around so much. The other day I left her in the lounge and went to her room to put something away, when I turned around she was sneaking into her room looking for me.
This one is going to give poor Ollie a run for his money when she is fully mobile!

Mornings

Our mornings, during school and weekends are pretty chilled. I try organise as much the night before so there is no rush in the mornings. Ollie needs some time to surface so this is often our morning view during the week-

Ollie chilling under his blanket and Charley chilling with him.
On the weekend we are normally piled into our bed which we LOVE!

Solar walk at school

Every year Ollie's school has a "torch walk" that this year became a Solar (lantern) walk. Spar kindly donated all the lanterns to the kiddies who then got sponsors for the walk.
Its a magical evening and so much fun!
Last year it was very overwhelming for Ollie but this year he did so much better - there were a few tears when a friend of his left him to walk with his daddy but once he got over that it was all good. Ollie didn't even  come close to doing the most laps in his class but he enjoyed himself and that to me is what matters! There was also a past student that came and did a fire dance for us all.

Mom and dad came to support Ollie - well, I think dad came for the food but that's beside the point :)
I had Charley on me and she loved it!! She had a nap or two in between all the excitement, this child loves activity and people!

The school raised a lovely amount of money and it was a huge success.
Have I mentioned that I just LOVE this school?

Too much fun!

On Saturday morning we had a play date with Ollies bestie from school - they played all morning and had so much fun! I will admit there were tears when we had to leave and many requests were made for his friend to come home with us... but we managed to talk Ollie down eventually!
This child no longer naps in the afternoon but he was so worn out from the tireless play that Mike turned around and saw Ollie fast asleep...

So Mike lay him down and he had a little rest.
Its times like this that remind me that my boy is still little and he is still just my baby as horrified as he would be to hear it!

Sleeping kiddies

What is it about sleeping kids that melt your heart?

Best. Big. Brother

This guy is the best big brother ever!!
He is patient and kind to his sister, he makes her laugh like no one else can and he is so gentle and loving with her!!!! He has become a big brother that makes my heart so happy.... he has taken going from an only child to the oldest child in his stride and he fell in love with Charley from the second he knew she was in my tummy!
Love this child!!!

Teething..

This is what teething looks like at our home :)

Happy but chewing on anything and everything she can get her hands on!
Two bottom teeth have sprouted and the only reason we knew is because this little monster bit me! My heart is going to miss her toothless grin!

To my husband on fathers day

To my husband on father’s day,

4 years ago you became a daddy for the first time and we managed to conquer the firsts of parenthood together, you grew into your role as a daddy with love and patience and taught me how to love when I fell short. You carried a lot in the first few months of Ollie’s little life, you carried me and him in love and understanding and for that I am forever grateful!
You are the daddy that loves and worries and plays and disciplines, who let our kiddies get away with certain things but holds fast to the rules we agreed upon that maintain the love and respect we demand from our namesakes. You and Ollie become little besties and his love for you is not only evident in how he kisses and hugs you but in how he looks up to you and how he is becoming more and more like you as the days go on. How he wants to be with you you, be a superhero like  you are and how he even wants to wear the same colour undies as you when he sees you getting dressed.
My heart didn’t only double when Ollie was born, it tripled  - double love for you and then the love for my son!

7 months ago you became a daddy for the second time and this was a more seamless transition than the first time, we settled into our little family of 4 with little effort and the instant Charley was born you were a daddy to a little girl and I could see how it soften you from the second she was born! I didn’t need you as much as the first time so we got to enjoy Charley together, fight to feed and cuddle her and love our boy for the big brother he had become.  When Charley was born you would come home from work and let me go to bed at 7pm so I could rest – even after you had worked a full day having only started a new stressful job. You allowed me the grace to say no to “outings” if I wasn’t up to it and to say yes when I was. We would sit in the evening (and still do) after Ollie was in bed but Charley wasn’t quite ready for bed and stare at her, talk about her beauty and joy and just love her!
Babes, you have showed me so much, taught me so much and I sit in awe of the husband and dad you are to us.
Thank you for loving each of us for who we are, for letting us be us and for giving us the absolute privilege to loving you back!

Always and forever!

Sunday

Sunday we headed off to church, I will admit our attendance has been very staggered of late but we are getting back into the swing of things now.

Charley Bear sat with me and we enjoyed worship together.
Ollie went to "grow zone" for the first time as he is now too old for tick tocks... He loved it as there was a puppet show, climbing wall and marshmallows!
This church has given me my extended family in Ruthie, Jurgens and the boys and for that I am forever grateful. We need to now plug back in become a bit more involved.

My boy

How does my boy look so big!! He as my baby once....

11 years later

On Saturday Mike and I were married for 11 years... I was going to fish out a wedding photo from all those years ago but rather felt like I wanted to document our life today - the life we have built and the life I so cherish!! This is how we spent our morning - my best!

I feel like I need no more words beside these pictures to remind me what an amazing life Mike has given him!

Party time

On Sunday it was Soph's party - A Frozen party. Ollie loved the jumping castle and eventually all the kids were playing crocodile where Uncle Gene was catching them and they were hiding in the castle walls...
Batman in among all the pink!
Charley loved spending time with Mike and on her donut in the shade or rumbling around with us as we watched Ollie play - she even ate her first fruit loop.
The swing was a hit - this child is a little dare devil!

Being this cute is very tiring! For a child that naps only in her cot I felt like I won the lottery when I managed to get her asleep in my arms and we stole away to the quiet place to enjoy her nap. I am surprised that I didn't wake her up with all the kisses I planed on her head!

We LOVE kiddies parties, Ollie has eventually become confident enough to play on his own without one of us constantly shadowing him... its such a lovely stage!
